The game of life

I always thought the worst time,
the longest moment of pain sublime,
had already passed when I was at my lowest,
when I bowed in to all the things I so detest,
when I decided to give up the war that raged
on in my head and breakthrough the facade I staged,
of happiness and peace, to forsake the last of hope,
and downward I went down the slope,
but I was so wrong about that premise,
not so easy it was to erase the blemish,
grown so large and black on my white soul,
I couldn't have given up without filling that hole,
so I thought that was the worst time,
the longest moment of pain sublime,
but boy was I wrong,
that moment was the beginning of a journey long,
and not the end of a painful chronicle,
rather was a commencement to the new level,
harder than the one I had lived before,
and it came with new challenges in store,
and all I could do was wait and endure
and all I could do was wait and endure.
