Locked in a jar
he seemed a little bizarre
he was not sure of how he got there
but that was none of his care
for he was free
as free as the doleful man could perhaps be
he looked through the glass, approvingly
he had it all now
he thought about it accordingly
no one could make fun
no one could make him feel alone
no one could mock
he rearranged and settled in
he gazed at the clock
he was going to be safe
he would be his own rock
after months in the jar
the man soon realized
it was not the others that made him feel low
but instead it was him
the meanest he would ever know
the man jumped and climbed
until the top of the jar was reached
he pulled himself out
and as he looked about
he decided he would never accept defeat
not from phratry not from folk
for he found his way, maybe a little offbeat.
