THE KNOT WE COURT

In the ugly gullies of worries,
Rubbish mishmash of ‘sorrys’,
In regrets of perfect plots;
Lie the packs of honey pots
To belie pacts of our portion,
A concoction of peer passion:

Wreaking shadows of impatience,
Wrecking the checks and balances
On a bumpy rally ride of dreams
Chased and choked by our whims;
Delusive and corrosive to a many,
Submissive and permissive to any.

Now sprung on a loose end,
Now flung like a silly trend;
Patches of quotes to mend a fence
We shade to try to blend in pretence.

A cost cast, sent and spent
Watered to wilt in that silt
Upon a receipt written drunk
To a client sobered up blank.

Now clobbered and haggard,
Now tutored and mentored;
Puritans we become to seem wise,
Free advice we offer those in amaze.

Such a suit we sadistically soot
The knot we court to split a part
At a concert we host, already lost;
Possessed and obsessed at most,
For guests we jailed and bailed:
Weary worked, and worn, waylaid.
