I stumble into my bedroom and fall on my bed.
There is a thought-war in my head.
One side says stay calm, this too will pass.
The other side says this will always last!
Back and forth the sides go, each presenting their case.
Finally I stop them and put my hands to my face.
I take a mental step back and then a walk.
It's time for God and me to have a talk.
He says, 'Pretend your bed is My lap.
Just curl up here and take a long nap.'
I curl up like a child and feel so safe.
My breathing slows to a more relaxed pace.
My muscles relax as God holds me tight.
I'd love to stay like this the whole night.
God's grip tightens and I feel his approval.
His lap is big enough to hold the world.
I move over some to make room for another.
Another weary child needing their strong Father.
It's naptime in Heaven on God's endless lap.
We recharge when we sleep, and that is fact.
Join me here, there's always room.
Let go of your feelings of doom and gloom.
In the morning you will wake and be ready for the day.
How ready depends on how long you stay.
So good night and sweet dreams.
See you in the morning.
