The sun had long set, taking with it all but the memory of radiant light. The trees lay dormant, disappointed.
She lay just as still, mesmerized by the starry sky, as it too was enchanted by her.
In these the quietest of moments, memories took form, once fragmented and faded. Reminiscence; a fond lover and bitter foe, she would seek comfort in his embrace but be left in want. He whispered of times she'd harmed those who sourced her will, who fueled her internal flame. He recanted songs of sorrow and strife, hummed melodies of isolation, and chimed a chorus of err.
She sent a silent plea for the posthumous change of long past days, for the redemption therein, but the light of reprise had long dulled and the sun had long set.
The past was cruel in its finality. Yet glimmers of hope lingered still, a gift had been earned through that trial and pain. This was her light, her very dawn; the wisdom so arduously recieved and the resolve‥ to carry on.
