The Memories

Calls came flooding in
Like an angry rain of vegeance
I thought I was lionhearted
Suddenly....
It started becoming clearer
And the fading of my laughter
that precious music of the soul
Gave me a clearer meaning
To the last message I received
"Tosin, I have lost my mum"
The first five minutes
was like my head became lighter
I couldn't swallow my saliva
I couldn't sit
I couldn't reply her message.
Unknowingly to me
I was already in the Sea of faces
people at Kuti hall were watching
The scene I was creating
Then, I knew
I have to be strong to call her back
He...ll...oo
The word wasn't coming out
But I had to pretend I am a man
Yes, ooo..... She's gone oooo
She's....what???
You guys talked yesterday
And I remember I was with you
I heard her voice
What happened???
She died of headache!!!
I wanted to burst out the baby in me
And throw myself on the ground
And cry till the earth will open for me
Is that how death comes?
Is it a thief?
Pining the pins of pains
It was indeed a painful day
And the memory is still fresh.
It's now a year
And it was like yesterday
We talk about you everyday mum
Your pains, your sufferings, your dreams
Your mistakes, your love and so on
We loved you
We still love
And we will continue to love.
Pastor Mrs. Aramide.
