The mind versus the poem....

my thoughts grow
but just how will I know?
when to stop writing the words
maybe you havent heard.
how to cope with the fear
that brings to me a tear.
fear to belong and do what's right
fear to be myself without the spite.
how to be me when I dont know,
at last what to do is fresh like new fallen snow.
turning the page I write the words
I do this so often it's becoming absurd.
Now I crave turning the page
that sets me away from my rage.
Calming now I feel my body relax,
done writing though I'm unsure I have all the facts.
my racing mind twisted and turned,
but my peaceful soul has now returned.
back in control I feel at rest,
but even now i realize, it's not the best.
the poem may ease the mind of mine,
but will it do so all the time?
I sit and ponder the question so near,
I fear my thoughts will run away from here.
some days i feel the words control the paper,
others it seems the words tend to taper.
my writings can be average at very best,
and sometimes they rest right in my chest.
The things that tend most to calm my mind,
can also produce something great in the time!
-written to explain a great coping strategy for anxiety and how poetry can sometimes speak louder for some than explaining what is happening in your mind.
