The Monster is Human

Once my life was happy.
Laughter filled our gleeful home.
Little did I know that Death was
Lurking in the darkness.
I was taken from my parents,
And it was the worst thing.
I grew up with kids laughing at me,
I was being bullied every day.
I knew what blood was at age three,
Violence was in my heart.
Kids stayed away from me,
And they treated me like a disease.
I bullied others for making me feel
So very small. I became more hateful
As the years of my youth went by.
I turned into a killer, a monster,
Something everyone hated.
I "killed" many people by tearing them
Down. I fought for myself, and had
Hatred brewing in my heart.
However, nobody knew that I wanted
Something that was denied to me
Because they failed to:
Acknowledgement.
I wanted to die because of my
"Killings," I wanted the pain to go away.
I cried to God and told Him to kill me.
However, my Father had other plans
For me. He showed me mercy,
And told me that He has a good plan
For me. That He loved me enough to
Send His only Son to die for me out of
His love for me, and everyone on
Earth. He helped me up,
But I still struggled with my faith.
A childhood friend of mine went away,
But I saw her every once in a while.
She then came to me broken,
Yet happy that my Father saved her.
She heard my past, and she drew me
Into her warming fire. She taught me
That life is not always fair, but it is
Meaningful. I told her of my "killings,"
Yet didn't see me as what I do.
She saw me for who I am.
I was acknowledged. Seen.
I was invisible no longer.
The monster I thought I was,
Was actually a little boy that was
Afraid of the future because of his
Past. My empty cup was now
Overflowing with blessings.
The killer I was is now dead.
Slain by the One who was slain for me.
