THE OLD PARTS ON AIR

The chirping of birds
Infiltrated my defence
And flowed to my ears
Like a nylon carried by a strong wind.
I stood up groaning
Like someone fell off a cliff.
Just then, my ears caught
The whistling and swooshing of the wind
Along with the rustling of leaves
Which brought back the old days.
Days where boys would run unclad
Splashing water dropping from the sky
All over the place.
Days where weekends
Gather us together like pins
In a bowling game
Waiting for the start of a new week
To use it's ball to scatter us.
Days where a member of the shield
Would be surrounded by trouble
Then his brothers would run
And fight by his side.
Days where we would light
Our necks on fire with our palm
While walking along the streets
Then we act like best men of a bridegroom
When a pretty lady passes by.
Ding dong!
The doorbell brought me back to the present.
With laughter on my face,
I went to get the door.
It was time to depart
And move into the world.
Hugs were shared like beer in party,
Tears rolled down our eyes
As we gazed at one another
For the last time.
