THE PERSIAN SPEEDWELL

One-sixteenth of an inch across
Less than one-half an inch tall
It's petals are a brilliant powder blue
With deep blue stripes
Awakened by the dawning of the day
It turns to face the sun
And follow it until it sets.
The Persian SPEEDWELL is one of the smallest, and most insignificant wildflowers on the earth. Billions, if not trillions are trampled on each and every day. In fact, 99.99% of the flowers will come and go, without ever being noticed.
When I contemplate the love, and personal attention that God has invested into each and every one; into something so insignificant, I can come to no other conclusion. God, the creator, is a God of infinite and everlasting love. Pouring Himself into everything He creates; as if it was the only thing He created. As if I was the only thing ever created by God.
On days when depression shuts me down, possessing my very spirit in it's unquenchable grip. Whispering the lies designed to make me believe I've been abandoned and forsaken by all, including God, I "Consider the lilies of the field". I look at my pics of the Persian speedwell. And I know that I am loved. And that He who started a good work in me, will see it through to. He is the author and finisher of my faith.
The world can be ugly and cold. We can be abandoned and forsaken by all. But we can rest at night, knowing that I am loved, and I have not been forgotten.
