I am at the top of the pit, sliding slowly away from the light. The depths forever pull me, my attempts to escape are weighted by the expectations and needs of others. I am so strong that all expect me to carry their burdens as well as my own. I don't fail, can't fail, won't fail.
I have had to abandon love for the expectation was too great of me, and I could not carry that burden without being dragged into the pit for all eternity.
So I pretend to be content, slowly sliding into the pit, and forever climbing out.
I carry the weight, out of a sense of responsibility.
And will do so for the rest of my days.
