The Rose

A days worth of just sitting I listen closely to the ground, I look for subtle hints of all life's creatures that's around.

I stare off blankly into space or so to you it may seem, but I'm focusing on that ant colony working so busily near that stream.

I hear the sounds of wings that flap, both insect and birds of prey, and I listen to the wind blow softly through the trees to hear what they say.

I feel the power of the sun that's beating on my naked chest and I'm reminded of just how small we are and it frightens me nonetheless.

I smell the air so pure here in this little slice of peace and the comfort that it brings to my soul helps bring me to my knees.

I taste the strong aroma coming from the busy bee, the taste of milk and honey completely comforts me.

Then I recall where I am and how it's been untouched, it saddens me to know the rest of this world could not be loved so much.

A tear had filled my eye there as I tried to keep myself serene, but I'm reminded how all the souls on this planet can truly be so mean.

The tear I wept fell to the ground and I watched a flower grow, and with it a ray of sunshine had emit a hopeful glow.

And that flower which grew before me was a rose as red as the eye could see, it was there to show that though it's lovely, harmful it can be.

I took this as a sign not to weep for things I could not control, and instead I came to realize all who would harm this flower would pay a toll.

It's thorns were fierce and sharp as was it's beauty it displayed, I found my face now on the ground in pure bewilderment I laid.

Gazing upon its glory, this simple yet lovely rose and it brought to me great comfort of the life that I had chose.

I came back home from that land where my soul had met it's mate and now I am constantly reminded of that Rose I'd helped create.

And when the darkness begins to set in, I think back on that bright day, when the nature of the world had told me "all that's wrong will go away".
