THE SCARS OF THE PAST

A shadow from my childhood days,
His wrath, a dark legacy
Small mistakes, a reason to fear,
His anger, a presence always near.
No one intervened, no one cared to see,
The terror in my eyes, the place to be free.
Locked in his room, a prisoner of his might
Innocent lost a childhood without light.
But time has passed, and wisdom's gaze,
Helps me see the complexities of his ways,
A mix of love and a harsher hand,
A legacy that's complex and hard to stand.
Today, I choose to see the good,
To recognize the love, as it should,
To acknowledge the struggles of his own,
And the efforts he made, though not always shown.
Years have passed, and I've grown strong,
My voice is heard, my story's not wrong,
I'll face my fears, I'll stand tall,
No longer held captive by his anger's thrall.
His shadow of cruelty doesn't define me
The beauty of my soul, the resilience that shines
'Cause I'm more than the pain, more than the fear
A survivor, a warrior, with a story to clear.
