The Search

I have searched for you
in men whose arms were
too weak to hold me.
My fingers have woven
themselves into webs with
fingers too loose to hold on to.

I have looked for you
in eyes that looked away
when my heart opened her doors.
I’ve got lost
in rooms where my voice missed ears
and hit walls.

I scoured the earth
for clues of your existence
in vain.
I held out my hand
in hope that you’d reach for me
and you finally did.

Welcome home.
