The Selfish Fish

Anything I've ever lost or forgotten,
simply wasn't important.
If I ever deem myself to be in love,
it is only for the moment.
And,
when I am busy,
truly busy,
it is only because I truly want it.
These are the remarks of a selfish fish.
One that swims alone,
unbothered by society's current.
Each wave no matter how high,
or how strong the impact,
is calculated as perceivable turbulence,
seen from a distance.
Within such a life there is no "Bad".
No meaning,
no purpose,
life simply is.
We as human beings seem so determined to not exist as free.
To have each individual alter the way in which we see.
And,
allow things,
mere materials,
to be what we seek in order to be complete.
I find this little time,
to be too precious for one to simply define it as,
an "American" life.
For it to be attached to a status,
or a need to be liked.
For it to be infused,
tethered deeply,
to a dollar that holds no value,
and very little merit.
For,
time has become so condensed,
as to barely exist.
For,
most spend time absent knowledge,
of why they spend it as is.
Why work?
Why save?
Why live 30 years,
for 60 to be the year,
you're happy?
Why aren't we all like that selfish fish,
instead,
of drowning??
