The Serpent Inside Me

The Serpent's smile on my face, as ugly as it gets
Fake and forged the joy graces, whenever I break a sweat
Parasitic pretence feeds of my blood, whenever I feel a threat
Calm and composed it makes me look, how can I even regret?
It's rapaciously ravaging, The Serpent has made itself known
Sardonically symbiotic, it's a relationship I can't disown
Deplorably despicable, that I hate it as much as I don't
Remorsefully remote, why from my own identity I have grown?
Tarnished from turmoil, the real me has been shelved
Caged in contrition, I loathe upon my own self
Buried yet not bereaved, inside everyone the Serpent dwells
Guilty and in gloom, will I ever be able to break free from the spell?
