"THE SHADOWS EMBRACE"

"THE SHADOWS EMBRACE"
Her eyes, once stars that lit my darkest night,
Now held a glint of malice, sharp and cold.
A whispered lie, a chilling, cruel delight,
A story in her heart I wasn't told.

I loved the face, the smile, the gentle hand,
Believed the warmth that flickered in her gaze.
But deeper still, a barren, poisoned land,
Where shadows danced in intricate, dark maze.

The touch that once brought solace, now brought dread,
A spider's silk, a web around my heart.
She fed on trust, on words I'd gently said,
And tore my innocent, trusting world apart.

No sudden storm, but slow, insidious blight,
Revealed the monster in the one I knew.
And though it ripped me raw, and stole my light,
I had to sever ties, and cut her through.

For evil wears a mask of purest grace,
And steals your soul before you comprehend.
I lost the love, but saved my fragile place,
Escaping the dark path that had no end.
