Though your words may seem sweet
And your smiles may look bright
You're not what you seem when you turn off the light
Your niceness is a mask, in truth you're quite mean
You put on a show for those you've seen
That's not the worst of it, not even close
Your fake niceness is a way to impose
You use it to control and to make people feel small
You're not so nice after all
You may think your words are harmless and kind
But the truth is they're cold and they hurt from behind
You may think you're getting away with it all
Let the mask slip away, let your true self be seen
And try being real, it's a much better scene.
