The Show, Must Go On

She walks to the center,
takes her place,
a single dancer,
on the world's stage.
The music starts,
lights begin to fade,
each move she makes,
such poise and grace.
She twirls around,
in satin and lace,
the audience mesmerized,
she has them embraced.
Each and every step,
she never hesitates,
practiced perfection,
no need to concentrate.
Her legacy, for history,
and surely her fate,
All-ways remembered,
Destined for Fame.
Oh, but wait
her mask slips away.
what's there in her eyes
cannot be erased.
Such agony is seen
Great Joy, grief replaced.
As this dancer, sadly dances,
Tears fall from her face.
