The storm
It was mid afternoon in the meadow and everything seemed peaceful
The few clouds that were in that beautiful baby blue sky were eloquent and graceful
The only thing strange that was out of place was the Sun
It should have been nice bright yellow on a summer day with everybody outside playing and having fun
But on this particular day the sun had a reddish tint to it like it was mad
Animals were too busy collecting food and people were having too much fun no one really paid much attention to the angry sun how sad
Folklore says that a sky with a red sun somebody going to die
It was evening now in the meadow a child began to cry
She didn’t want to leave the grandeur of this meadow that was so Sublime
The people packed up their picnic lunches and alarms began to sound and chime
Cars began to leave one by one
The day it was over for them they were all done
Animals though they were just getting ready for another night
Most of them just ignored what was looming in the sky tonight
Badgers now are the caretakers
They watched as the dark angry menacing clouds the ones that are called storm makers
Began to gather in the night sky for a battle that some won’t survive
The warning went out to the lake to the woods to the marsh even to the bees that live in the hive
Everyone was warned and the Badgers we’re satisfied that all was being done for the safety of the meadow
The head badger though was still worried that not everybody got the memo
In the far north corner of the Woods a family of deer laid to sleep
There was a mom a dad and two brothers both thought the other was a creep
The wind started picking up it was coming from the north
It was cold it snuck up on you and it just made you shiver back and forth
Then Thunder roared loudly announcing the battle to begin like trumpets of old
The wind it struck first with angry vengeance as it hit the meadowwith strong winds that were icy cold
Wind was bent on damaging or destroying whatever was in its way
Then the rain started pounding the ground with heavy droplets of water to everyones dismay
The rain flooded the meadow that sent some families out of their dens
Sending them to high ground to defemd
if you knew what was best you should run run you should
The storm was bent on destrying all it could
The family of deer that was in the north corner of the Woods we’re scared
The two boys there was shaking badly mother was trying to calm them down and hoping that they would be spared
To the north of them was the river they couldn’t cross it in this storm
If they went east west or south there was man they would not venture there the dad was mad why were they not informed
Now they were stuck here under this big oak tree hopefully that would be enough protection for his family and he
The wind then laughed with a angry howl that froze you in place so you could not get free
The wind wasn’t very nice it was mean dangerous it would kill if given the chance
First death of the storm was father rabbit he you could not move frozen by wind he stood there as if he was in a trance
Lightning was fast there’s a crackling sound like that of a whip and father rabbit was no more
Ligjtning laughed as father rabbit died and layed on the meadows floor
The battle raged on the woods was hit very hard as alot of the younger trees we’re blown all around
The older trees the ones that have been there since the beginning we’re safe they have roots that went deep into the ground
Big Father Oak was laughing at the wind because there was no way he was going to get blown about
The wind hit Big Father Oak as hard as he could but it was no use so he went elsewhere and pouted
Big father oak was trying to protect as many animals as he could under his branches including the family of deer
Who by this time were terrified
Especially the boys they were shaking shivering from the cold
Mother Dear was holding her two sons tight trying to protect them father deer was standing up straight and bold
Like all storms there are those creatures that follow it in the night
The ones that will take advantage of the helpless in their plight
There was a pack of wolves following right behind the storm safe from its angry rage
They reached the meadow saw all the damage then they howled like you would read in a old story books page
Father deer heard the howl first he was terrified that his family will die
The storm seemed to be passing by but the river was running too high
To him there was only one option and that was to save his family so they must hide
With his big tall antlers there’s no way he could hide in the brush and he had his pride
You keep the boys here safe they won’t find you I’m going to lead them away from you my love
Mother deer knew exactly what was going on yes I understand she then gave him a hug and then a shove
Father deer took off fast down towards the river
Pack of wolves saw a big buck running the leader of the pack began to drool in anticipation it made you just quiver
The pack of wolves were on the scent and the chase began
Father dear was fast he could outrun any pack of wolves but he had nowhere else to run
The Wolves cornered him at the river leader of the pack was like a mad dog he was hungry he wanted to eat before the rise of the Sun
Father dear was putting up a grand fight two the wolves we’re already down
But he was tiring he had many cuts that were dripping blood on the ground
One of his antlers were broken impaled into one of the Wolves that were lying about
The leader of the pack was mad he’s lost half his pack and his left eye stuck out
He wasn’t stupid he didn’t want to take any more chances on losing any more on this day
I remember you dear I’ll be back and make you pay
I'll bring more with me the next time you’ll be mine
On the ground laid five wolves all dead the fight for survival in life sometimes is not kind
Leader of the pack then howled and they took off back to chasing the storm
Father dear began walking back he was limping and bleeding not in his best form
Sun was coming up over the horizon it was peaceful again in the meadow
Animals were leaving the dens looking at all the Carnage the storm did some of the animals were hurt and moved very slow
But in the end only one father rabbit did not survive
Everyone was sad to her about father rabbit but they were just happy to be alive
Mother dear and her two sons were still underneath the old oak tree she was crying
Some of the other animals came up and told her everything would be okay but she knew he was dying
Then to the north he just crested the Hilltop he could see all their faces
He had one broken antler and cuts from over a dozen places
Mother Dear then stood up and ran toward father dear I thought you were dead
He chuckled no pack of wolves ever going to take my head
In the meadow life once again settle down
Except for a few trees scattered about that were laying on the ground
You couldn’t even tell there was a fierce storm that battled here didn’t you hear the trumpet sound
As it is in life some things live some things die
but life moves on oh look at that beautiful baby blue sky
