I told myself I’d never swim
In waters dark and wide,
Where shadows lurk beneath the waves
And secrets love to hide.
But you, a current fierce and swift,
Pulled me from the shore,
An undertow I couldn’t fight,
A pull I can’t ignore.
I kicked, I thrashed, I tried to flee,
But deeper still I sank.
Your voice, a siren’s haunting song,
Pulled breath from lungs gone blank.
The ocean warned of tempests near,
Of shipwrecks yet to come,
But still I let your tide consume,
My senses struck, undone.
You are the sea, wild, untamed,
Your depths a mystery.
And I, the fool who wades too far,
Despite the danger I see.
I’ll drown in you, though I resist,
Your waves, my cage, my sin.
For love, it seems, is not the shore—
It’s the storm you find within.
