The Very Silly Day

Today I woke up feeling quite strange,
My socks were mismatched, my hair out of range.
I tried to brush it, but it just stood up,
Like a porcupine giving me a hiccup!
I went to the kitchen for a snack and a drink,
But found a cereal box that began to wink!
It said, “Don’t eat me, I’m not what you think—
I’m made of rubber and a little bit pink!”
I thought, “I’ll make pancakes, they’ll surely be fine,”
But they flipped right out of the pan, in a line!
They jumped off the counter, and one hit the wall,
I said, “I think pancakes have had enough of it all.”
Then my pet turtle, who’s slow as can be,
Started a race with the cat—who’s faster than me!
The dog wore my shoes, and the fish did a dance,
It was the silliest day, I didn’t stand a chance!
But after all the mess, I smiled and sighed,
Because even on silly days, you can’t run and hide.
Laughter is magic, it’s always the cure,
For days that are crazy, and moments unsure.
