The Walls

You've been trying for years
And failed time and time again
You couldn't get past my walls
With everything I put out
Hard to believe I have something to hide
You're trying to save me
But these walls are so damaging
They won't let me out
And I know I'm stupid
Because I build more to hide
In the end I'm left more broken inside
And you hear that little voice asking for a way out
I can barely hear it over all the self doubt
Or maybe that was the negative thoughts living their best life
Living behind my walls my whole life
Peace couldn't handle it so she clocked out
Happiness went to search for someone who needed them now
Love's a different story
I don't receive none but I give it out
Because my heart seems to block that out
Hate resides so deep in my mind
But it's self inflicted so I'm stuck with it somehow
All this pain you see in my eyes
You just wanna help the person inside
But the walls seem to be your challenge
That's what put me down
Because they never were broken
They're the only solid thing in my life
