THE WEIGHTS OF BITTERNESS

THE WEIGHTS OF BITTERNESS
Pain cuts down a jagged scar that refuses to heal,
Bitterness lingers, a toxic shadow that makes me feel unreal,
Tears fall like drain, a heartbreaking refrain that echoes through my mind,
A lonely heart lost in endless pain searching for a love that's left behind,
Every breath is a struggle, every step a painful stride
Bitterness clings to me, a suffocating tide that pulls me down
Tears are my only hope, it makes me feel free
It lets down the pain, it reduces everything, it makes me lose strength
Tears are the only peace that brings relief to my heart,
But what could I say, how would I express my feelings without tears?
The bitterness in me is bigger than my happiness
It strips me of everything, my breath, my hope
The only way I let it down is through my tears
I'm trying to find strength to rise again
But the bitterness in me can't just be let go
I'm trying to break free, to break free the heartbreaking chain
But it's too hard for me to let go, it hurts to the point of no thinking
And I pray I find a way to heal, to love again, to play a brand new game.
