I

They Galvanized the Washtub

In 1869 a sane woman entered an insane asylum one year later she was insane she remained in the asylum the rest of her life
Lonely solitude within my
galvanized washtub
The man with the white hat
opens wide the shutters
on my windows that don't
open
It's raining lovely dread in
horizontal sheets
I need to feel it pelting
stinging my skin with
intermittent frozen drops
marking me red.
washing my thoughts
with its energy
The man is back wearing
a white dress skeleton keys
playing music on his hips
with that fancy walk he
moves forward those white
stockings dripping with flavor
He brings me a bucket
then leaves i watch as it
pours itself into my
galvanized washtub.
