My skin is a shield, deflecting the lies
Their careless words soar right by
Their laughs like buzzards, circling round
Scrutinizing the doubt that their tongues have found
But I rise above, unswayed by their judgement
My gaze defying their tuneful lament
For if I am to be the target of their ire
My soul will not quiver in their snare
I'll not be confined nor confined by their spite
If I wish to respond it shall be light
When the time allows a response
My voice shall bind their scorn in a dense
My strength draws no power from anger or fear
But self assuredness in the face of jeer
For I must stand by my Truth and radiate
In the silent wake of what was spoken in hate
And though it bothers me I shall understand
Why they felt comfortable around you to speak ill of me - my friend.
