WHY I RHYME

Welcome to my life story,
Let me show you what you don't know.
See, long ago, when I was young,
I thought I was being taught the truth.
By the age of fifteen, mendacity was all I knew.
Hitting the clubs, hanging with thugs,
This is what I thought was life.
It wasn't long before the skeletons came out of the closet.
Being used as the devil's advocate was their plan.
Luckily, their plans were decimated.
Christ was my escape.
He removed my sinful garment and replaced it with a righteous cape.
I ran before they had me eliminated,
Unaliving me before I got to be a man.
When I realized my life was their deposit,
One of hardship and unending strife,
Selling your soul, draining your life with drugs.
"YOLO," they say, "Enjoy life while the sky is blue."
All they did was ruin my youth.
I used to hide myself among the wrong throng.
Before the hourglass starts to lose its glow,
Don't be shy; come and share in my glory.
