Through my lens

Everyday, week in week out, I see hate.
I feel judgement, resentment or even disgust.
Even though I walk with forged confidence, inside I'm scared shitless
Perhaps the world smells my fear?
Perhaps the world is my fear?
In every step I take, what do they think?
How will they see me?
I wonder how God felt after completing all these marvelous creations?
Did he care so much what the spirit world thought?
At times I figure He just did what He did caring less what the next entity reckoned.
What has changed?
Aren't we the same creatures made in the image of God?
If so then, why so much hate?
Why so much division?
Aren't we supposed to be one people and love one another dearly?
Wonder what happened to love?
Is it so far gone that it's beyond reach?
Am I supposed to hate my brother and hide my gold?
Why am I so engrossed and engulfed by material things?
To an extent of putting my morals aside.
I rarely see myself in other people. Aren't we all the same creation?
Bob Marley sang one love. Perhaps he'd seen how beyond redemption we'd fallen.
We're defined by colour, classes, religion etc. The list is infinite.
It would take more than my entire life to write down what divides the world.
It's so complex that it's now a precise definition of normal.
The world is an addiction, hate is our drug.
Love is overrated, or maybe we've just lost the true definition of love?
What has the world come to?
In this most complicated century. What has driven the human race to insanity?
Is it Capitalism?
Is it Democracy?
Is it religion or politics?
I'm clueless. I tread the earth with apparent uncertainty.
I suspect your smile isn't as genuine as it looks.
I suspect you don't feel me the way you pretend to.
I suspect you're disguising so much hate with that flimsy laugh of yours.
Why do I feel lonely in a crowd?
Why do I feel repugnant when you achieve more than I do?
Aren't I supposed to be happy for you?
Why is everything a competition? Aren't we supposed to complement each other?
I'm so out of touch that tomorrow scares the shit out of me.
At this rate, I figure at some point it'll be normal to talk about hate the same way we do love.
I hate you. I hate you too.
Through my lens, I feel jaded, gloomy, somber and hope deprived.
This is what it has come to.
