I've felt this ache in years gone past,
And now it’s here again at last.
She walks away while lying near,
And leaves me whispering through my fear.
We share the bed, but not the fire,
The love we built, the old desire—
Has cooled to coals I try to fan
With trembling heart and open hand.
Still, I can't teach my heart to quit,
It longs for more than scraps of it.
For something real, not halfway kissed—
A love that aches when it is missed.
She doesn’t say the words out loud,
But silence wraps her like a shroud.
No waves goodbye, no slammed front door—
Just less of her than days before.
I'd do it all again, no doubt—
Through every silence, scream, and drought.
Just for a moment wrapped in grace,
Her arms, her breath, her warm embrace.
To feel her heartbeat pressed to mine,
Two souls entangled, lost in time.
I'd brave the pain, I'd take the fall—
If just to taste it once, that all.
I wish she'd choose me one more time,
To let our hearts again align.
But if she can't, and won't be mine—
I'd give the world for one more sign.
One final breath we used to share,
Her fingers tangled in my hair—
To feel her love, if just once more,
I'd walk back through that broken door.
