Tick Tock
by Debra Bennet
If you have the money
You can have it in the bag
Nip and tuck - accentuate
And stretch the bits that sag
It isn't such a big deal
If there's one thing you don't like
A big nose or your ears stick out
Or bags around your eyes
If you have the readies
You can tweak the bits that offend
Have them plumped, syringed or tucked
Make surgery your friend
But don't believe you ever can
Compete with Tick Tock
The ageing process carries on
If you like it or not
Embrace your wrinkles
Love your lines
They have a tale to tell
(Those fat bits were expensive -
Ooh, a pudding, what the hell!)
What will you do, say, when you reach
The age of sixty-three
Keep stretching, nipping, pulling 'til
It's someone else we see?
You cannot stop Old Father Time
He'll always win the race
Whether you have breast implants
Or pig fat on your face
All that pain with no real gain
You are the age you are
So just make pals with Father Time
And join him at the bar
Raise a glass to Tick and Tock
Embrace them as your friends
The deals you make
They'll always break
They'll catch you in the end!
