Tidal

Tidal
The tide is crashing down, but it’s making no sound—
Because it does not know bounds; what is too quiet, too loud
Retreating in ocean, like it has detected disease
Finding lost memory in a brief, grieving sneeze
I can not let it go, hold water, is that not funny?
Because, though I am your daughter, I expect flee
But you run, and you run
Blame it on moon, but that is all you can do.
I am far past through.

It is not a shock anymore, dad, maybe sad;
But once you’re used to tide, it is not too bad
Pick up, retreat, constantly fleeting
Yes, you’re a figure, yet I am done needing
Waves, they come and go, just like you, huh?
White and blue water, but I am stuck with the bruise, huh?
You can play mouse, and I’ll play the mouse—
Slip under the bed when you head out

Surge, swell, now you’ve gone rogue
And I’m left with the mess of the promise you owe.
It is a show, a smile, and act for a while,
But beyond your grey bars, I’m stumbling through dark isles
You said do not do what you would, but I am not stupidic—
Not the monster you are, but I get it; I get it
You have places to be,
Sights I cannot see,
And you’re dealing with monsters much bigger than me
But, I needed you too, more so long ago
Now I water the plants you never intended to grow
My garden of show—that you’ll never see—
Yet, I’m still up to level where you wanted me to be

You’re a wave,
A shock, a pulsing of storm
You are a let down of shore,
A creature of more
A give, and a give; you take, and take
Water swept away where I am not yet willing to play
So I’ll step up to battle, wait at my stake;
Because you are just as present
As a tidal-fuel wave
