Till darkness Falls

Long ago deep in the
Appalachian Hills,
A man lies in sickness
close to death
Waiting for God's will,
"Lord have you forsaken me "
He exclaims in grief,
Heal this old body and
Let me be,
Then out of the distance
A voice Crys out in woe,
"come to me Tom, come to me"
"leave this world, just let go"
Still a little weak and
in dismay,
I crawl from the bed
To see who awaits,
As i open the door I see the
Old oak tree swaying
In the wind,
Just behind it a dark shadow
Walks about
With an outstretched hand,
My body is paralyzed
Frozen in Fright,
He swoops in closer
Catching me in his sight,
He reaches in further and
Chills shake my bones,
Then darkness overwhelms me
I find myself in a strange land
All alone,
I hear others amongst me
Although I can't see,
Like we are all trapped in a cave
This must be some kind of purgatory,
Forever will I roam?
Or maybe just a little while?
God only knows
