In memory of what we shared I keep a notebook by the bed,
As I begin to purge my heart, I see your pictures in my head,
Thinking hard about the past and what pushed me off the edge,
To the point that we're apart, my despair has turned to dread
Maybe I was the issue unaware of all my actions,
And I blamed you for our split when I was the biggest fraction,
Choosing wrong all along, silly now I see what happened,
I was stuck deep in my head and that was a huge distraction
I couldn't find time for you though I tinkered on a clock,
Heard the tick with every second yet I chose not to stop,
Until the sound of a closing door was the ending sound "tock",
And my time had run out all I even did was watch
Puzzle solved I found the answer in the clarity of time,
It's ironic because to me that was all you wanted of mine,
I couldn't see it but now I do I was stupid then blind,
So as I write about our past I learned that love requires time.
