To A Love, Lost

Being around him was like breathing.
It was natural, easy.
But when it ended, when he left,
He took so many parts of me.
He promised me the life I've wanted.
A life of marriage and family.
But one day he woke up to his reality
And claimed he couldn't give that life to me.
So here I sit, grieving for what was never mine.
Tears streaming down my smiling face
While memories flash through my wandering mind
Of a different life, a different time, a different place.
So I dedicate his memory to this page.
Written, put on a shelf and forgotten about.
Left in its own little box to gather dust.
Left alone to fade away, written down to be cut out.
