L

To, My Future

"How can something so small and fragile
be so precious."
Was the first thought that entered my mind.
As you,
my little girl,
entered my world.
It's even hard for me to blink now.
For,
each time I do,
I miss,
seeing you.
For,
each second my eyes are not blessed by your presence,
I feel this heat as if hell has risen.
As if,
time has left me suspended in this hellish prison.
And,
everything on earth has escaped existence.
I've yet to sleep.
Im looking at you now,
and,
it's unfathomable to me,
that you've come from my seed.
That you are a part of me.
My wife tells me,
rest we both need.
But,
to leave,
seems impossible.
Instead,
I'll write.
I'll write about love.
About feeding you as you wake up.
About making sure everyday you breathe,
I am your lungs.
Its funny,
at this moment you don't even have a name.
I told my wife we should wait till,
we saw you move around.
Till your emotions were displayed.
We have a couple to choose from of course,
but none really stood out to me.
None really spoke to me.
Tomorrow you'll look deep in my eyes,
and your name,
I'll speak.
