tough love

Tough Love
From the outside looking in…
Don’t know why I have continued to pretend!
As a child, I was taught to turn the other cheek,
As an adult, that made me so weak!
For the ones that over powered me,
Look deep in your heart, a piece of me, you will see.
I’ll be a little keepsake
Although your actions, seemed filled with hate,
To you, I’ll admit, I appreciate!
Your love,
I call,” Tough Love”
Has indeed made me rise above.
Some call it crazy,
Some call it abuse,
That’s why you can’t choose the name,
No ones story is quite the same.
I now see life through my heart along with my eyes.
Of all the lessons learned,
My of my cherished lessons learned, was to distinguish manipulation and lies.
The kind of lies that seem true!
They think that I believe them, they have not a clue!
As we part, they try to pretend,
That they can wash me away!
Memories of me will always stay,
Inside their hearts
Perhaps because my character and personality originated from the collection of stolen hearts!
I never still it all,
The pieces are so small.
My heart holds the broken pieces.
The pieces fit together with the edges rough
Thanks again for sharing your love that was so tough!

(Reflecting on the emotional damage, and post-traumatic stress disorder that I suffered
from the abuse)
