Tragic Decay
Each day he watered my plant,
Each day had the same end,
Each month consistently without end,
He nurtured and loved every bent.
My plant flourished as it grew,
Month four and nothing new,
The season changed and so did you.
A new season, a new day,
Watered I will be today.
Monday ended in delay,
Tuesday he said he would be away,
Wednesday ended without say,
Thursday my plant began to fray,
While Friday it turned grey.
It begged for a drop, one spray.
Tomorrow he said without delay.
Each day my plant got a spray,
It was happy with and blossomed anyway.
A leaf fell one autumn day,
He said sorry, I'll repay,
Another fell, and he looked away,
Don't worry, I'll bring it the next day.
Words bloomed where water used to stay.
Each day my plant reminisced the old days,
Where water came consistently each day.
This while slowly decays,
Each day he just watches it rot away.
And each day he says he will fix it while watching it decay.
