How much love gone missing
After it is searched for
In vain of its first absentia
Do not lie in love
Lest you shatter someone
Who is broken but repairable
Or caulk with a slightly different
Less genuine color
To repair some fissure in the original surface of life,
Because a vase that holds something beautiful
Is not meant to use profit of its own beauty
My self worth is covered in cracks
Depending on how you hold me I feel fragile
Sometimes you lose your grip on me
But I can't tell if it hurts me more to break
Or you to pick up the pieces that will cut you
To throw them away
Especially if I'm conscious of being picked up
And then discarded, never to be repurposed
Glue will not work once I've shattered
Is that what you're afraid of?
If you don't want to fix me
Then replace me
And if you can't put a value on an offspring of life
Then reset what life means to you because
It's short, painful, and riddled with people
You're always saying how I'm strong
You're proud
If you wanted some acknowledgment of
Your own losses apart from mine
Compartmentalizing something you must be grieving
And if I'm
Not
Broken
Then why did you send me to change like I'm coins
With only a coating of worth assigned by morals
Like I, am
Something you could cash in?
Sorry, I lost the receipt,
"Valued Consumer"
Find something else for your exchange
Because this transaction cannot be refunded
If it was an accident to invest in, I will still
Shake your hand,
Tell you to have the best day, say
Come again soon,
And let you be on
Your own way.
