Trapped
Out there, I see
a crowd of souls
but here I am, trapped
locked in this cage of my own mind,
a world folded tight around me.
I forget the earth is vast,
its spinning life is so wild, so free,
beyond these cold, confining walls.
Why do I descend
into this silent prison,
even when the sky is wide and calling?
Why do I not dance
in daylight’s reckless promise?
My mind towers
a dark fortress I built myself,
comfort or curse ,I don’t know
an untamed beast with no name,no face.
Do you know
the weight of a single breath?
The sting—when air you crave
chokes you instead?
You think it ends but no
it starts again, relentlessly, cruel–
a dawn that will not let me be.
