A cool breeze
a moment of ease
to shed these chains
and sit amongst the trees
silence is all I need
not a deafening silence
just the kind that soothes the soul
to breathe in the fresh mountain air
to simply sit and stare
ponder and collect my thoughts
to gain a sense of peace
I had long ago lost
a caged bird only thinks of one word
a word I so long to be
and that is
free
