Rainy days and Mondays
Don't make me sad the way Tuesdays do,
It was the day you went away
Without closing the door behind,
Without saying goodbye.
I still keep the flowers you gave me
In between the pages of my yellowing diary
Fragrance lost but memories alive
Laughter no more, just dead silence
Hanging in the air like an old ghost.
I don't watch sunsets anymore
But I still sit by the window
With a mug of the same coffee
We used to share on random evenings
When the stars weren't playing hide and seek
With the moon that used to keep watch of us
As we shared dreams with the wind
And sketched lifetimes in the night skies.
Rainy days and Mondays don't make me sad
Like how Tuesdays tap on melancholy's shoulders
Whispering broken promises wrapped in satin sheets
Bringing back to life wounds that never heal
Leaving me a lifetime with buckets of nostalgia
and empty promises,
Leaving me a heart with stitches and burns.
