Somewhere in Africa light is an august guest,
Welcomed with chants of Up Nepa!
Twice a week or once a day, it does appear at best,
Flipping and flopping off and on like a bout of amnesia.
We see poles at attention, cables running to and fro,
We hear our leaders sing and dance seven thousand megawatts is their song,
But if it be so, why aren't our bulbs aglow?
Why have we in darkness dwelt all along?
Alas now I know, a demon is to blame!
Get a priest, get a monk, none of these would help.
Fold our hands as we have, soon we become lame,
Or maybe we all pray and yelp, but will that even help?
If you say a demon is to blame, why wouldn't not of these help?
This is the reason simple and plain,
The demon to blame is you and I,
And until we dust our minds and brains,
Am afraid it will remain awry.
