We were both 10
You were a foreigner and I was a citizen.
We both were shy at our first meet
But slowly became best friends indeed.
Soon after two months you left
Every single smile of ours turned into droplets
And our life was totally changed.
Today four years later you are finally allowed to use a pen in school.
And I am taught to use a riffle so that I don't get the same wound.
You're staring at the prettiest girl in the class sitting behind a bench
And so am I but from the broken building's edge
As she walked up to you the prom lights made you fall for her unconditionally
And I fell for my girl when I saw her beautiful smile in the candle's light.
Love was complete for you but mine remained incomplete for I was shot in the head right after the candle went out.
We were both 10 the only difference was that I was from Syria and you from US.
