Two Loins, One Hunt

We were wild.
Lions in the crowd.
Focused on the hunt,
always on the prowl.
It seemed,
ever so innate.
As if we were existing in our natural state.
As if we needed to gain these dates.
I remember,
the night our life's slipped from what we thought was control.
And, entered into a world unknown.
That girl.
What was her name?
I can only see her eyes,
I vaguely see her face.
Her eyes in hindsight troubled me.
It seemed her intentions,
looked past a simplistic ending.
As if, she was unwilling to see life,
or this moment as a new beginning.
It was as if she was ending.
A drink or two later,
you had her in your favor.
The venom she gave you,
ripped through your immune system,
causing fatigue and weight lost.
Months past,
and now we're discussing funeral cost.
Best friend,
lost in the hunt.
Turned into prey,
once thought to be the predator.
Forever lost,
searching for,
simplistic fun.
