Unconquerable Soul

In the darkest night that falls on me,
Where shadows stretch from pole to pole,
I lift my head and I am free,
With an unconquerable soul.
Though fate may hold me in its grasp,
And trials may come like pounding waves,
My spirit will not yield or gasp,
Though battered, it still stands brave.
For beyond the veil of fear and pain,
Lurks only darkness, deep and grim,
But I will not be held in chain,
Nor fear the years that yet will dim.
Though gates may narrow, paths may strain,
And punishment may take its toll,
My destiny is mine to claim,
I am the master of my soul.
So let the night enshroud me whole,
And cast its shadows far and wide,
My spirit soars, it knows its goal,
I am the captain of my life.
