Unfriended United States

A patriot, I once stood proud and tall,
Defending my land, I heeded the call.
But now my heart with anger crawls.
How could you, country, ban those close to me?
My friends, my family, now forced to flee.
A patriot, I once stood proud and tall.
I fought for you, for freedom and justice for all,
But now your actions make me feel so small.
My heart with anger now crawls.
How can I reconcile this betrayal?
My loyalty to you, now up for sale.
A patriot, I once stood proud and tall.
Ironically, it seems you have forgotten our very creed,
Of equality and unity, now flung to the breeze.
My heart with anger now crawls.
The land I loved, I now begrudgingly serve,
For my loyalty, you did not deserve.
A patriot, I once stood proud and tall.
But now my heart with anger crawls.
