Us

Us, then yet, us -
Sailing above a post-apocalyptic world
disgraced and dehumanized by self-aggrandizing men
In an air-balloon shaped of querulous
quilts and rotted rags and defunct dreams;
(A wailing siren?) deadened by fireworks
of bombastic bombs bombarding/
burning/burying below
But, we fly high! - hand in hand, brow to
brow
While a worthless world whimpers away
wistfully wishing for wonders
Yes, beloved,
We fly/we rise/we soar!
Us, then yet, us -
Ascending into the firmaments on
borrowed ravens' wings (smooth as
polished pearl.)
Us, surfing on wandering waves of
filtered filagree energies;
Us, bare-footed, racing hare-footed
meteors across animated milky
constellations;
Us, witnessing the rise and fall of stars
infant in their knowledge and ancient in
their wisdom;
Us, waltzing to a symphonic
soundlessness, whirling to the rhythmic
ever-pulse of a living, breathing cosmos
(our ever own prismatic playground) -
Yes, beloved,
We fly/we rise/we soar!
Us, then yet again, us -
Freefalling to the beginnings of an
Earth which was once our ever end -
Settling under the shade of a stately
softwood, unashamed by the innocence
of our nakedness, sipping on syrupy
nectars dreamily dripping from
blossoms bright;
Gazing at the vaulted heavens, electing
resplendent stars bearing our ever own
signatures, proclaiming our names!
Declining under cumulus canopies
leisurely stretching forth in time to
the beginning of an end -
Enduring in the midst of a bloodied
battlefield while cannibalizing cannons
engage in relentless wars, the residue
of rapacious gunpowder blackening
our faces, extinguishing our light -
Hand in hand, brow to brow
Yes, beloved,
We fly/we rise/we soar!
