_VANITY_

_VANITY_
River of tears flow down my eyes,
as I pondered deeply on the love of vanity,
that has conquered the hearts of the sons and daughters of men. The acts and scenes bleed my heart continuously.
Walking down the street of solitude,
I heard the crafty voice of vanity,
calling forcefully at the sons and daughters of men.
"I am beauty, riches and fame."
"I give pleasure, power, and influence."
Come dine and wine with me until death calls.
Oh, the sound of his voice so charming,
it compelled our virgins to sell their Virtues and virginity.
It stole the brains of our sons and made them trade their glory in exchange for shame.
Now they seek to dance with the naked body of vanity.
In burning rage I shouted on the street,
Oh, the damned deceitful promise of vanity!
What does it profit to gain the world and be lost eternally?
Then remembered I the sweet words of Wisdom,
"We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out."
and I find solace in this pen of inspiration.
