Detective Cogart: Now tell me what happened? And start from the very beginning because what you had told me earlier did not make any sense to me, and the DA is not going to by your story.
Tiara: I'm telling the truth, I wouldn't lie, I was at my grandma's crib, Well first, this is how it went down, I was stealing my cousin Travor things in his room.
Cogart: why were you stealing?
Tiara: I don't know, I just steal things that I really want.
Cogart: you know this is going on your record? Everything you say is being recorded.
Tiara: I'm not slow, I already know how y'all operate so will you just hear what I gotta say or I won't say nothin.
Cogart: Go on.
Tiara: well, I'm being honest with you detective, first I stole his music devices, and some of his money, and when I went in the basement I saw Trevor and his friends, Leo and Jaws coming in.
Cogart: coming in where?
Tiara: from the outside into the basement, there is a outside door that leads to the basement.
Cogart: I know that.
Tiara: and I was playin it off so Trevor wouldn't see me cause I'm not allowed down there when he's not there, I took The stuff I stoled from him upstairs to put in my bag and I had to use the bathroom, and that's when I saw Leo lying on the floor dead, and everybody else was dead too.
Cogart: I thought you said you saw the two of them coming in together though the basement dead, so how did Leo got in the bathroom?
Tiara: I don't know how the hell he got there, I saw him first downstairs dead, and the next thing I saw him lying upstairs dead, Trevor was lying dead in the living room, and everybody else was dead too, accept for my aunt Cassandra. We both was scared as fuck, so thats when I called the police, but they asses was asking me a lot of questions, so I just told them to hurry the fuck up, my family is dead, and then I hung up the phone. After I had hung up the phone, I turned my head towards my grandma's room and saw a boodoo doll standing by her door, it...
Detective Cogart: Do you mean voodoo doll?
Tiara: It's boodoo, but anyway, it was a ugly lil muthafucka, smiling at us with it's dark eyes, like it didn't care. Cassandra saw it too, you could hear her out, that's my witness.
Cogart: The correct pronunciation is voodoo doll.
Tiara: no, thats what we call it in the hood. Maybe that's how y'all white folks pronounce it, but in the hood in Brooklyn, we black folks call it boodoo. Like I was saying, Cassandra is my witness to this story, man.
The cult
Lucy: Good evening my boys.
Audience: Good evening Lucy.
Lucy: What we call ourselves?
Audience: Brotherhood of Darkness.
Lucy: Let us get our Bibles. Remember pain is gain, darkness is light, and madness is what?
Audience: our sanity.
Lucy: Madness is our sanity, good boys.
Interrogation
(A knock on the door)
Cogart (gets up and opens the door):
Detective Roger: You by it?
Cogart: I don't by it one bit, and the DA for hell sure isn't going to by some voodoo doll cult crap. I think she and her aunt had something to do with their family's death. What did you get out of her aunt?
Roger: Her story is the same as hers, we gonna have to keep them in the hole for a while.
Cogar (nods his head): let me get her. (Entering back in the room). If you don't confess what really happened, you and your aunt is going to prison for a very long time.
Tiara: Fuck this shit, I need my lawyer, go get her.
Cogart: We will get you your lawyer tomorrow.
Next Morning In The Cell
Where is she?
Cogart: How are you Staci? I don't by her story.
Staci: Give that poor girl and her aunt some respect, she didn't do it.
Cogart: How do you know that for a fact she didn't?
Staci: my gut tells me..
Cogart: your gut? You go listen to your gut?
Staci: would you move your white ass so I can speak with her? (Pushing Cogart out the way to get to the cell).
Cogart: as you wish.
Tiara: Thank God you came cause I'm getting tired as fuck of being in this hell hole.
Staci: I'm Staci, I will be representing you. We are going to the interrogation room now.
Cogart (unlocks Tiara's cell):
Staci: If you want me to defend you, you have to be brutally honest with me. If you are not honest with me, you and your aunt will be in this cell for a very long time. I know that was not the whole story you told to the detectives. I want you to tell me what exactly happened and do not leave anything out.
Tiara: Ight, what's the use of telling bits and you go help me. Ight, so it is more to the story.
Staci: You do not have to start over from the beginning, just start with why? Why was your family murdered? You've mentioned something about a voodoo doll cult.
Tiara: I joined a voodoo cult, that's how it all started.
Staci: Okay, what happened?
Tiara: It all started when me and my friend Aundria went to this abandoned trap house on 71st N Chapel, to get some weed. I don't smoke weed she do. So we went inside, and it was a lot of brothas in white robes. This wasn't the usual trap house we would go to. They was all in this big living room, and this white girl was preaching by a podium. This trap house was weird as hell. She told me to wait by the door inside. She went in a room by herself to get her weed.
Brotherhood of Darkness
Tiara: Why the fuck these niggas in robes?
Aundria: That's how they do business here, we call em brothahood. I'm not into that shit, I just come here to get my weed, that's it.
Tiara: What kinda trap house is this? I thought trap houses only supposed to sell weed, not having niggas in robes an shit, and who is that white girl here?
Aundria: Her name Lucy, she the Lord of the brothahood, she basically run this place and this neighborhood.
Tiara: How can a woman be lord of a drug house?
Aundria: I don't know, you askin the wrong person. Wait out here while I get my weed.
Tiara: Ight.
Lucy: Now let's open up our bibles. Wait... Close them for a minute. Does anyone know all the nine Satanic statements in this book? You could just summarize all the nine satanic statements, I know you guys would not know them word from word.
Audience (silence):
Lucy: anyone?
Aundre (raises his hands):
Lucy: finally, Aundre.
Aundre: Satan represents indulgence, instead of abstinence, Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams, Satan re...
Tony: What is pipe dreams?
Lucy: I see you are very new to the Brotherhood of Darkness, I will explain all of the satanic statements when he's done, now go on Aundre.
Aundre: Satan represents undefiled wisdom, Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheeks, Satan represents responsibility to the responsible, Satan represents man as just an animal, Satan represents all the so called sins, as they all lead to physical, Mental, or emotional gratification, Satan has been the best friend of the church as ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!
Lucy: Good Aundre, I did not expect you to know all of the satanic statements word from word. You did some studying my brotha. Now, let me break all the statements down for you all. The first statement represents indulgence, instead of abstinence. Meaning that our devil want us followers to indulge in heinous acts. Second, Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams, meaning the devil wants us to be more focus on reality more than on illusion. Or a story told to someone, reality is more important than a dream. Third, Satan represents undefiled wisdom, meaning when the devil speaks wisdom to all of us, we best to follow his wisdom of wrong doings. He do not discuss purity, he spoils the truth of righteousness to all of us. You all should be writing all of these statements down, the ones that don't know the statements. Fourth, Satan represents vengeance, instead of turning the other cheeks. Meaning, if someone done something to us on purpose, we must get them muthafuckers back. That is what Satan wants us to do, we always need to take revenge on someone that does us wrong. Fifth, Satan represents responsibility to the responsible. Meaning, that if we commit a crime, we are responsible for that crime. It's our responsibility to cover up a murder. We take responsibility for what we do. Sixth, Satan represents man as just an animal. Meaning, that the devil does not care about man if that man betrays his brothers. We kill anyone that crosses the line. Seventh, Satan represents all the so called sins, as they all lead to physical, Mental, or emotional gratification. That statement is already explained by definition. So eighth, Satan represents kindness to those who deserves it. Instead of love wasted on ingrates, meaning, the devil will bless those with their desires to those who worships him as long as we do Satan's deeds. And Ninth, Satan has been the best friend of the church as ever had. As he has kept it in business all these years! Meaning, that Satan keeps us all busy, he's working through us and all around us. Satan is a busy man guys. Satan keeps us from doing good deeds for God. The devil is busy everywhere, not just in the church. Well that sums up all the satanic statements.
Tiara (crosses her arms in anger): Ain't that's like contradicting the bible?
There is more to this story. I know you all know that I am most known for my informative poems, rhyming poems and quotes. But I am also fascinated with horror stories. This is my second horror book I wrote this year. I would have gotten finished with it at the beginning of this pandemic, but somehow my writing file got deleted and I had to write it all over. I hated it because "Voodoo In The Hood" is a long story. I always turn my horror books into comic books I draw. My first horror book was "Believe In The Curious Dreamers." If you have not read those chapters on my page, please do so. It is towards the end of my stories page.
