“Walking (Between Past and Future)”

“Walking (Between Past and Future)”
Looking forward, looking at the road in front of me.
Looking at my future, uncertain as always.
Then I stop.
I turn back and look behind me.
Looking at the road I’ve taken.
Looking at what I’ve endured.
Looking at my past.
I turn at my side.
I look forward.
Just in the middle.
Not the future, not the past.
Just the present.
I stay still, imagining.
Taking my time to process what was behind me
and what might be ahead of me.
I ask myself:
Did I make the right choices?
Am I going to make the right choices?
What’s life?
What’s me?
What am I doing?
What have I done?
What will I do?
I turn back, moving forward,
Towards my future once more
because I have to.
My future — it’s mine.
I don’t have time to waste.
Despite the broken pieces I am,
I still have to glue them back together and walk forward.
Because if I don’t,
if I stop for too long,
I know I won’t be able to move forward any longer.
I know I might stay still forever.
